Val Venosta South Tyrol
Val Venosta South Tyrol lies in the Nord- Western part of this region. It offers unique mountain landscapes, which can´t be easily forgotten. A visit to Val Venosta (German: Vinschgau, Ladin Val Venuesta) is worth in every season. This South Tyrolean valley offers much to see: an example is the Castelbello (German: Kastelbell) castle, which dates back to the 13th century. In the heart of Val Venosta lies the mountain resort of Laces (German: Latsch), famous for having hosted the sledge World Championships in 2005, precisely in the Tascher Sheperds´ Hut ski zone. Fruit farming is also one of the strongest points in Val Venosta South Tyrol. The famous ski resort of Solda (German: Sulden) is encircled by the mountains, located in an idyllic position; Solda is also known to be very romantic and suitable also for snowshoes hiking trips.
Val Senales South Tyrol
Reinhold Messer has founded a museum in Val Senales South Tyrol; his yaks feel perfectly at home here! An unforgettable hiking trip, particulary recommended in summer, will lead you to the Stelvio National Park (Italian: Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio, German: Nationalpark Stilfserjoch); Val Martello (German: Martelltal) is included in it. Val Senales (German: Schnalstal) South Tyrol is very popular among children thanks to the many possibilities of spending holidays at a farm; strawberries are particularly tasty here!
Resia (German: Reschen) is another very famous mountain resorts, located in the the "Three Nations" corner, where the borders of Italy, Switzerland an Germany meet. The homonymous lake is artificial, built in 1949-50. Its famous bell tower still reminds of the flood of the Resia and Curon Venosta (German: Graun in Vinschgau) villages. The Alta Val Venosta (German: Obervinschgau) is very popular among skiers and Nordic ski fans from November till April. Another attraction is "kite surfing" on the lake iced surface.
